About Us

Jinan University, established in 1906, is a comprehensive university under the joint leadership of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the Education Ministry of P. R. China. The university is one of the top 100 national key universities in China. Adhering to the principle of "Oriented to students from overseas, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan", Jinan University now has over 23,000 full time students, including 10,609 students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and foreign countries, which comprises the largest number of overseas students in China.

Known as a paramount academy for Overseas Chinese, Jinan University has always dedicated itself to the education of Chinese language and culture for overseas students. As a result, the College of Chinese Language and Culture of Jinan University was founded in 1953 to offer programs of Chinese language & culture, as well as pre-university courses to overseas students. The College was conferred as the “National Base of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language” by the Education Ministry, as well as the “Overseas Chinese Education Base” by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. The College is also one of the ten key institutions that facilitate Chinese teaching in neighboring countries under the guidance of the office of Chinese Language Council International. The College has become the biggest in scale and the greatest in strength for offering programs of teaching Chinese as a second or foreign language and overseas Chinese education in South China. The major of Teaching Chinese as a Second or Foreign Language at the College was recently conferred the title of “Famous Brand Program of Guangdong Province”. The College is one of the few HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) centers for all levels and C.TEST centers. The College is also the training and testing center for certifying qualification to teaching Chinese as a foreign language in Guangdong province. In addition, the College is an examination institution for the National Entrance Examination of Chinese Universities for overseas students and also the main examination institution for the Joint Entrance Examination of Jinan University and Huaqiao University for overseas students.

The college consists of the Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second or Foreign Language, the Department of Overseas Chinese Education, the Department of Applied Linguistics, Pre-University Department, Correspondence Course Department, Overseas Chinese Education Researching Institute, Overseas Chinese Researching Center, and Internet & Educational Technology Center. Currently, there are 204 staff members in the college, among which there are 28 senior professors and associate professors and 55 lecturers. Twenty one of the staff hold doctorate degrees, and 41 hold master degrees. There are also 14 doctorate and master candidates’ supervisors.

The college offers multi-form, multi-level courses in various forms. In 2005, there were altogether 4,057 students at different levels, among which 126 were graduate students, 169 undergraduates from mainland China, 1,872 pre-university students, 1,157 full time international students for Chinese Linguistics, Overseas Chinese Education, and Chines languse learning, 421 students in training courses, and 312 international students in correspondence courses.

Located in Tianhe District, the new downtown and cultural center of Guangzhou, the college has easy access to metro and intercity  commuting systems. Lying at the foot of a small mountain, the college boasts large patches of greenery, fresh air, sports grounds and convenient entertainment and living facilities. With an international and diversified cultural environment, the college is the very place for you to learn Chinese language and culture.

Program Introduction

Overseas Chinese Education, with the foundation of Chinese language and culture, combining traditional educational theory, psychology, Chinese language and literature, is a program subordinating to Pedagogy. Its feature is to train overseas Chinese language educators and teaching staff, and the students will learn educational theory, especially the basic principles and methods for overseas Chinese education. Students in this major will be familiar with overseas Chinese history, and learn Chinese language and the basic knowledge of Chinese culture systematically. The students will also learn the rules for overseas Chinese education, and possess high capacity in Chinese language teaching and overseas Chinese education. Students who has finished all the required courses in the program will be granted bachelor’s degree in education.

Length of Schooling, Aim of Training, Graduation and Degree Granting

The length of schooling is 4 years, and a credit hour system is applied.

Students in this program will get comprehensive and systematic training in Chinese language and skill, learning the rules and methods in overseas Chinese education, understanding Chinese history and culture, to be capable of doing overseas Chinese education work, and highly competent in doing theoretical research work, Chinese language teaching work and executive work on education.

Students may graduate after they have obtained intermediate level A or above in Chinese proficiency (HSK) test, finishing all the credit hours in the teaching plan, and qualified in physical education. Those who accorded with the Regulation for Degree would obtain bachelor’s degree in Education.

Admission

High school graduate or above from Hongkong, Macao, or foreign countries, who are willing to be engaged in Overseas Chinese Education, may apply for admission. Those with Chinese nationality must have long-term or permanent residental permission in foreign countries and have lived there for more than two year up to the time of application. Applicants who have not learned Chinese may also be admitted.

Transferred students may be acceptable in this program. Those with two or three year college diploma and undergraduate students in similar program in colleges or universities recognized by us both in China and abroad, or those with Level 4 certificate of HSK Chinese Proficiency Test, may apply to transfer to this program and enter the corresponding class if they accord with the admission condition. Transferred students should study in this program for at least two years.

Entrance

For overseas Chinese or foreign students: Applicants may be exempted from a written examination and apply for enrollment by interview directly on the basis of competitive selection.

For students from Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan: Admission will be based on the mark in the Joint entrance examination of Jinan Univesity and Huaqiao University. Those who accord with the examination-free standard may apply for enrollment by interview directly on the basis of competitive selection.

Students from Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan may log on the web page of http://www.jnu.edu.cn or ask for the Admission Prospectus of Jinan Unversity to apply. Overseas Chinese students may apply through the recommendation organization or by yourselves, sending your application personally or by mail, fax or email to the admission office of the College of Chinese Language and Culture, Jinan Unviersity. Copies of the following documents are needed, whose originals may be checked at the time of your registration.

1. One copy of completed application form of Jinan University. The application form can be downloaded from the web page http://lxlz.jnu.edu.cn. Please fill in and print it, and sign your name on it. If it is hard for you to fill in the electronic form, it may be filled by hand. The staff in Jinan University will fill in the electronic form for you, but you should confirm it at the time of your registration.

2.    Two color photos without hat or head coverings. 

3. Copy of your passport or other valid IDs, whose original will be checked at the time of registration.

4. Copies of the graduate diploma from high school and the academic marks of each year, whose original will be checked at the time of registration.

5. Those with Chinese nationality should provide notarial documents, issued by the local Chinese embassy or consulates, that certifies your having permanent residential status in your residential country. Overseas Chinese should provide recommendation letter from the embassy, or overseas Chinese organiztions, or headmaster of high school.

6. A copy of the agreement on engaging in overseas Chinese education after graduation should be provided for those who applying scholarship, whose original will be checked at the time of registration.

Application & Examination Time

Entrance without examination: Application is accepted only in the autumn semesters, and you can apply anytime in the year. No written examination for overseas Chinese.

Apllication is acceptable up to mid July.

Entrance with examination: Application is accepted only in the autumn semester.

Application time: From March 27 to May 19, 2008.

Examination time: June 12 to 14.

Visa Application

With the admission notice and JW202 (or JW201) form, students may apply for studying Visa in the Chinese embassies or consulates in their country. If you have no time to apply for the studying Visa, a tourist Visa is also acceptable. The staff in Jinan University will help you to change your visa and apply for residential permit after your registration, and the fees for this will be paid by yourself. Students transferred from other Chinese universities need to submit the original residential permit and transferring documents.

Fees

1. Application Fee: 500 RMB.

2. Tuition fee:

RMB15,000 per year for overseas Chinese or foreign students with Chinese proficiency (HSK) test intermediate level C certificate or above. RMB18,700 per year for those without Chinese proficiency (HSK) test intermediate level C certificate or above. RMB 4,560 per year for students from Hongkong, Macao, Taiwan, or those with Chinese passport.

3. Accommodation fee 

Apartments fall into two types: single room and double room. Facilities in the apartment include: telephone, air-conditioner, bathroom, hot/cold water, Internet access, color TV, washing machine, and refrigerator. Prices range from RMB￥3800/semester to ￥6200/semester according to different conditions. A certain amount of electricity allowance is provided monthly, but residents must pay for any additional usage.

华文教育专业本科（自费生）招生简章

一、暨南大学华文学院简介

暨南大学创办于1906年，是中华人民共和国国务院侨务办公室、教育部领导的一所综合性大学，是国家面向21世纪重点建设的100所大学之一。学校贯彻“面向海外、面向港澳台”的办学方针，现有在读全日制学生23752人；在校的华侨、港澳台和外国学生达10609人，居中国高校之首。

暨南大学素称“华侨最高学府”，长期以来致力于华文教育和对外汉语教学。华文学院成立于1953年，是暨南大学面向海外开展汉语、中华文化及预科教育的专门学院。学院现被教育部确认为“国家对外汉语教学基地”、是国务院侨务办公室 “华文教育地”，被中国国家对外汉语教学领导小组办公室（简称国家汉办）确定为“支持周边国家汉语教学重点院校”，是中国华南地区办学规模最大、办学实力最强的华文教育和对外汉语教学专门学院。学院开设的“对外汉语”本科专业被评为广东省名牌专业。学院现为中国汉语水平考试（HSK）初、中、高级考点，国家汉办“汉语作为外语教学能力证书”考试点，中国普通高校对外联合招生考试点和暨南大学、华侨大学两校联合对外招生主考点。

暨南大学华文学院设有对外汉语系、华文教育系、应用语言学系、预科部、函授部、华文教育研究所、海外华语研究中心、现代教育技术中心等教学和研究部门；现有教职工204人，其中教授、副教授28人，讲师55人；具有博士学位者21人、硕士学位者41人；博士、硕士研究生导师14人。

华文学院采取多层次、多形式的办学方式，2005年在读学生4057人，其中研究生126人，国内本科生169人，汉语言、华文教育学历、非学历在校留学生1157人，预科生1872人，各类培训班学员421人，本专科函授学员312人。

华文学院位于华南最大城市广州新城市中心天河文化区，毗邻广州火车东站，交通便利。学院拥有各种现代化教学和体育保健设施，学生公寓、餐厅等生活设施一应俱全。学院依山而建，环境幽雅，空气清新，校园文化富有国际化、多元化特色，为海内外学生学习汉语和中华文化提供了良好的自然和人文环境。

二、专业介绍

华文教育是教育学属下的一门学科，它以汉语言及中华文化知识为基础，以传统教育学为基本内涵，同时与心理学、中国语言文学、文化学等学科相融通。本专业的特色是：面向海外培养华文教育师资和教育、教学管理人员，要求学生掌握教育学特别是海外华文教育的基本原理和方法，熟悉侨情，系统掌握汉语和中华文化的基本知识，掌握海外华侨华人教育规律，具备以汉语为教学语言，针对海外华侨华人开展华文教育的良好能力。本专业学生完成学业，成绩合格者授予教育学学士学位。

 三、学制、培养目标、毕业及学位授予

学制四年，实行学分制。

本专业旨在培养比较全面系统地掌握汉语专业知识和技能，掌握华文教育教学规律及方法，了解中国历史文化，能够从事华文教育工作，具有一定研究能力的华文教学及管理人才。

学生在学期间必须获得汉语水平考试（HSK）中等A级以上（含A级）证书，并修完教学计划规定的学分，德、体合格，准予毕业。符合学位条件规定者，授予教育学学士学位。

四、招生对象及入学条件

有志于从事华文教育工作，并具有高中毕业以上（含高中毕业）学历或同等程度学历的港澳台、海外华侨及外国人。华侨学生要求取得外国长期或永久居留权，并且在国外实际连续居住2年以上（截至报名时间结束止）。可接收汉语水平零起点学生。

 本专业接收转学插班生。在我校认定的国内外有关高校相近专业获得大专以上文凭、在读本科或HSK成绩达到4级，符合本专业招生条件者，可以申请插入本专业相应年级就读。插班生在本专业就读时间不得少于2年。

五、入学方式

海外华侨及外国学生：可免试申请，经面试后，择优录取。

港澳台学生：参加暨大、华大两校联招考试，成绩达到我校本科录取标准者，择优录取；符合大学本科免试录取条件者，可申请免试入学，经我校面试，择优录取。

 六、报名办法及报名材料

港澳台学生的报名办法详见网页http://www.jnu.edu.cn或2007年暨南大学招生简章。海外华侨、华人由推荐单位、个人或本人申请报名，通过面交，邮寄，传真或者电子邮件等形式向暨南大学华文学院招生办公室提交下列报名材料复印件，报到时查验或交原件。

1）《暨南大学入学申请表》1份。请登陆网站进行填写后打印出来，签字确认。若不方便上网，可手填，由暨南大学华文学院代为在网络上填写资料，学生报到时须签字确认入学申请表。

2) 两张一寸的半身彩色免冠相片。

3）护照或其它有效身份证件复印件。报到时查验原件。

4）高中毕业证书、高中阶段各学年学习成绩单复印件。报到时查验原件。

5）海外华侨必须提供中国驻当地国使领馆出具的具有长期或永久居留权的公证书或认证书原件；华人必须提供使领馆或当地侨团侨社或中学校长的推荐信原件。

6）申请奖学金学生必须提供毕业后回所在国家从事华文教育的协议书复印件。报到时查验原件。

七、免试最后报名时间、考试及报名时间

免试入学：秋季招生，全年均可申请。（华人华侨可免笔试入学）

秋季入学： 7月中旬截止。

考试入学：秋季招生。

报名时间：2008年3月27日至5月19日

考试时间：2008年6月12-14日

八、学习签证的办理

学生凭入学通知书和 JW202（或JW201）表到所在国的中国大使馆或领事馆办理来华学习签证。因时间关系来不及办理学生签证者可先办理旅游签证，到我校报到注册后，由华文学院协助办理签证变更及居留许可，办证费用自理。来自其他大学的转校生，到校前须在当地公安局办妥居留证迁移手续。

 九、费用

1.报名费：500元人民币

2.学费：每学年

海外华人、外国学生已获得汉语水平考试（HSK）中等C级以上（含C级）证书者学费标准为每学年15000元人民币；未获得汉语水平考试（HSK）中等C级以上（含C级）证书者学费标准为每学年18700元人民币；港、澳、台、华侨学生学费标准为每学年4560元人民币。

3．住宿费：留学生公寓分单人套房、双人套房两种规格。公寓设施包括电话、空调、卫生间、冷热水、Internet接口、彩色电视机、冰箱、洗衣机等。根据不同的住宿条件和设施配备，公寓租住价格从3,800元人民币/学期至6,200元人民币/学期不等。学生可享用一定数额的免费用电量，超额部分须另外交费。
