CCLC’s Project of Compiling Chinese Textbook (Australian High-school Version) Gained Support from Overseas Chinese Affairs Office

Recently, with the implementation of the National Asian Languages and Studies in Schools Program (NALSSP), leading universities in Australia increasingly pay more and more attention to Chinese language teaching. As a result, New South Wales made a new language teaching schedule for the Heritage Course, which was designed for students with Asian culture background. At the invitation of the Austrilian Chinese Education Promotion Society, the College of Chinese Language and Culture, Jinan University will compile practicable localized textbooks to satisfy the needs of foreign citizens with Chinese origin for Chinese learning, and from which key universities offering Heritage course can choose. Recently, the plan of compiling the textbook has been initialized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, the relevant compiling work would be started soon.

Based on a full study of the requirements and features of Chinese language teaching, the College of Chinese Language and Culture, Jinan University will closely cooperate with Austrilian Chinese Education Promotion Society and the local teachers in Austrilia to explore the compiling concept  and examples of localized textbook, to compile localized Chinese textbooks for senior students in high schools in Australia, which cater to the features of 21 century textbooks and satisfy the needs of foreign citizens of Chinese origin for Chinese learning.
