On December 29, 2013, the closing ceremony of “Mandarin Training Program for Chinese-language Teachers in Southeast Asia”, sponsored by the Chinese Overseas Exchange Association (COEA) and hosted by the College of Chinese Language and Culture, Jinan University (CCLC), was held at the Student Activity Center in CCLC’s teaching building. The attendees included: LI, Shiyun, Secretary of College CPC Comittee, ZHANG, Li, the Dean Assistant of CCLC, TONG, Shengqiang, Director of Chinese Department of CCLC, teachers’ representatives, head teachers and all the students of the mandarin training course.
During the closing ceremony, on behalf of CCLC, Secretary Li delivered a speech. Besides speaking highly of the sincere attitude of all the students and congratulating on their excellent achievements, Secretary Li also expressed his hope that all of them can teach with standard mandarin when they come back to their own countries for the spread of Chinese language and culture, as well as his wish that everyone can keep this wonderful memory.
HU, Xia, on behalf of all the teachers participating in this program, expressed her sincere thanks for the opportunity to communicate with all the students in this program. She was impressed by their passion, concentration and devotion to mandarin learning. At last, she put forward that it was the responsibility of all students participated in this program to promote the mandarin learning in foreign countries.
LI, Wenhui, president of the Singapore Achievement Institute of Language, delivered a speech on behalf of all the students involved in this training course, expressing their sincere thanks to CCLC for its well-planned schedule, all the faculties for their devotion and all the students for their mutual concern and care.
CAI, Liwen, graduate student of CCLC, and representative of all the head teachers participating in this program, addressed that although this course was quite short, the friendship between teachers and students in this course would last forever. During the closing ceremony, CCLC, Singapore-Brunei Teacher Delegation, Samakhom Khru Chin (Phratet Thai) and United Chinese School Committees’ Association of Malaysia, exchanged souvenirs with each other. Leaders of the department awarded every student with a course completion certificate and souvenir seals.
After the closing ceremony, students for this course——Chinese-language teachers in Southeast Asia gave a wonderful performance with various programs, such as Kung-fu Fan Show, Three-character Classic Recitation Show, Peking Opera Show, etc, which fully reflected their high level of mandarin and good knowledge of Chinese culture.
Started on December 9, 2013 and ended on December 30, 2013, this training course lasted for three months. COEA as well as CCLC paid great attention to this course. They reasonably arranged courses with abundant content, combined with capable faculty and interesting investigation trip of South China culture, provided students with not only diverse language and culture courses, but also opportunities to experience the Chinese culture and South China customs.
